Attention folks!!

On Wednesday  July 7 around the evening we'll be doing some site maintenance. This has the near 100% guarantee to cause forum outages. We'll be doing back-ups to be sure, but in the mean time know we are on top of it, and will have things restored in one way or another within 24 hours. Thanks!

MAGFest 9 E-mail

This should practically go without saying at this point but I'll say it anyway. For the past 7 years X-strike Studios has gone to MAGFest and its the absolute best time that any of us have all year. More X-strike fans go to MAGFest than any other convention we go to and if you haven't been going, now is the time to start!

What will we be doing at MAGFest 9? Honestly, I don't know yet. We'll probably premiere something since we do that at MAGFest pretty regularly. Last year we did a live audio commentary for River City Rumble that everyone seemed to love so it stands to reason we may do that again with a different movie. Our Video Game Improv show has been standing room only the past two years. Also people seem to think its funny.

And that's just the stuff that WE do at MAGFest. That's not counting all the other events, guests and bands that pack the weekend from one end to the other. Its worth it and you should start planning for it now. The date is set, preregs are open and the hotel room block is almost certain to cell out again this year, so head over and start planning for the best weekend of 2011 NOW!

Summer. It's hot, humid, and it means there are still at least 6 months untill the next MAGfest. So where then, you may ask, can a dude go to fill his cup with the hot, steaming coffee of video game rock without waiting until 2k11? Well look no further than BitGen Gamerfest in Baltimore MD for a pretty hot handful of some of the best VG Bands around. For the bargain price of $20 (and, you know, a ticket to another city) you can spend an evening "rawking" out to the likes of Entertainment System, The OneUps, The Megas, This Place is Haunted, The Protomen, and MORE! As a bonus the event is also an art festival, so expect exhibitions and the chance to nab lots of unique, vg-related swag...you know...the kind that only comes up at cons. Hit the jump for the press release!

Oi! This week's Phantom Train of content keeps on rolling into your FACE with another episode of Metal Gear: Briefs. It would have been up sooner if I had gotten equiped with Idle Man's weapon: Free Time. Apologies for the delay, but we're back on schedule now!

Enjoy folks, and as always leave us some feedback!

XOXOXO

Rory

EDIT: I'm hijacking Rory's post to remind fans that if they want to check out the previous episodes of Metal Gear: Briefs, you only need to click the arrow next to the title in the video player playlist. Or you can just as easily click on this handy little link here.

As you might have heard, we went to Anime Mid Atlantic last weekend. I had my camera in tow and took some footage along the way. For your pleasure, I give you the compressed 2.5 minute version of the adventure. Enjoy!

edit: I completely forgot to de-interlace the video. Less interlace-y version coming in a bit.

Happy Daddy Gamer day everywhere E-mail

If you didn't see this one coming, you've been enjoying too much of the sunshine.

It's that time of the year where we think about the male influence that happened in our life. Sometimes its positive and we think of all the amazing things Dad did for us. Other times, not so much. It's a weird world where parents can either inspire you to be just like them, or inspire you about what not to do.

I don't pretend to know what the right approach is, and no one has as yet written the definitive manual on how to raise a child. Although, if someone did most Daddy Gamer types would throw it away and wait for the in game tutorial to kick in (cue the mother).
